I suspect that they see it as not being their problem. The complexity comes from the complexity of our ancient calendar system. Could it be done? I'm sure it could be. I'm also confident that any tool they come up with is likely to be less flexible than the fields that Paul constructed in the tutorial, even if easier to use.
